FIMA (Festival International de la Mode en Afrique)
The 10th Edition of the International Fashion Festival in Africa was held in Agadez on the 16-17 December 2016. The FIMA fashion event is held every other year in Niger to promote the wealthy cultural heritage of Niger and Africa as a whole. FIMA being the biggest fashion event in Africa attracted thousands of festival-goers and fashion lovers.
The first night of the fashion festival was dedicated to the young fashion designers. A competition was held and the best designers and models were awarded. Eleven fashion designers from Africa and Europe showcased their collections on the second day of the event. Designers including some of the biggest names in haute couture including the founder of FIMA Alphadi, Lamine Diasse (Senegal), Jean Paul Gautier (France) and Flaminia (Italy). FIMA 2016 was themed “Education, Industry for African Mixed and peace”
